One of the best ways to really see Sydney is from the water and from Circular Quay, right next to the opera house, you can take a ferry upriver towards Parramatta, though one of the most popular trips has to be to take the ferry across the harbor to Manly. A two-minute stroll from the wharf up The Corso will bring you to Manly beach, home to many surfing competitions, and a great place for a family day out.

The Sydney to Hobart Race

One of the world’s most famous ocean-going yacht races starts every Boxing Day and is guaranteed to bring out hundreds of thousands of spectators. Viewed from around the waterfront, on top of Sydney Heads, or on the water, the start on Sydney Harbor is an exhilarating sight, watching the boats beat their way up the harbor to open waters. If you would like to have a go yourself, there are many options for a day or overnight adventure on a yacht, assisted if needed by a professional crew.

Sydney is a wonderful and sprawling metropolis, and flying over the top of it gives you an idea of how large and diverse the city is. A great option to consider is selecting one of the helicopter tours available, giving you a truly bird’s eye view on everything going on down below and allow you to see the harbor and city in all its splendor.

Go With Nature

The Royal Botanical Gardens are situated right beside the CBD, just a few minutes’ walk from the opera house and offer an amazing abundance of flora and fauna. A little further afield to the West, you have the Blue Mountains, with gardens and parks across the entire area, offering an endless list of places to visit for the nature lover.
